Not only people can tell stories, houses can as well. The Mehlerhaus in Madseit dates back to the 17th century and has so much to tell, that one visit might hardly offer enough time.  Shortly before the end of the 2nd millennium people lived in it, nowadays it accommodates an exceptional farming museum. Additional exhibitions and numerous events revive the house.

The kitchen was the heart

Offering warmth and the smell of freshly prepared food, the kitchen used to be the family's meeting point. While mother and grandmother were cooking, the entire family would sit around the  kitchen table, the children would play or do their homework. Of course all family members needed to lend a hand and do chores. The Mehlerhaus, having been a home for and visited by many generations of inhabitants of Tux,  tells all kinds of details about this way of life. The wood-panelled parlours of the 300-year-old house have been renovated and are open to the public.

For adults and children an interesting and impressive experience - lively history, at first hand and only a stone's throw away from Hintertux.
