The tradition of wood carving

As soon as the knife was invented the first wood carvings were made. This type of handicraft has managed sofar to stack up against technology, probably because it is an original art handicraft to carve figure, dolls and statutes. After all, the wood carvings gain character when they are made by hand.

Most families have passed down this tradition over many generations. The knowledge, the practice and skills are being passed on, so that locals and tourists alike can witness, which wonderful wooden creations can be made.
